WordCamp Chicago is ON

By: Lisa Sabin-Wilson on 10/4/08 @ 9:17 pm

We decided WordCamp needed to come to the Upper MidWest of the United States - so here we are, all geared up to organize the event and bring together WordPress fans who are local to the Chicago area (and even those who aren’t, but are willing to travel!). “We” are: Brian Gardner author of the insanely popular Revolution Theme, Cory Miller of the fantastic iThemes, Wendy Piersall, CEO and founder of the popular and fast-growing SparkPlugging community and Lisa Sabin-Wilson, owner of E.Webscapes and author of WordPress For Dummies. We are all from the Chicago, or surrounding areas, and are all passionate users of WordPress.

We are still in the planning stages of the event - so the time, date and location of WordCamp Chicago is still to be determined. We are working quickly and have a pretty decent team put together to organize the event..so I suspect it will not be long before we are updating here with more specifics. Subscribe to our RSS Feed to receive updates when we make them! You can also follow us on Twitter.

We are interested in hearing from folks in the WordPress community who might be interested in speaking/presenting at the WordCamp Chicago event, or sponsoring the event to help us defray some of the costs involved in putting on a fantastic event. Contact us for more information, if you’re interested.

On a personal note, I have to say that I’m honored and feel priviledged to work with such a talented group of people for this event and I know we’re all looking forward at working hard to put on an event that everyone will enjoy and benefit from!

I’m game. I was looking for a WordCamp but everywhere soon is looking so cold!

I’d prefer that it be somewhen warm! Chicago is nowhere near as fun when it’s cold.

And I love taking the train from Detroit to Chicago!!!

Suggestion: If negotiating rates with a hotel, make sure it includes free Internet for the sessions and in our rooms :)
